“But I’m not creative!” … It’s a statement I hear daily!
As if it’s a pre-existing condition, a God-given gift, a talent that only some of us were born with.
WRONG!
When guests walk into a brainstorming session, I regularly hear them say, “I don’t know why I am here… I can’t brainstorm! I’m not creative!”
Yashi Srivaslava writes brilliantly about this mindset in her June 8th article featured in Creativity Post.
We are all born creative — it’s just that some of us have abandoned our creativity!
The mindset that Srivaslava discusses in her article is not only 100% accurate, but also doable. I would encourage everyone with a self-imposed creativity roadblock to read the article, then reread and then give it a try.
Two years ago, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting the Picasso museum in Barcelona. It was one of the most incredible days of my life. Amidst the incredible works of art, was a series of equally incredible Picasso words:
“The chief enemy of creativity is good sense.”
“It takes a very long time to become young.”
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once she grows up.”
You ARE a creative person. Your inner creativity IS there! It’s just a matter of unlocking it – and that’s EASY to do if you work on your mindset.
It can lead to inventions, different ways of looking at life, and wonderful ways of problem solving – either business or personal!
Youth and creativity truly have no age!
