Many people dream of changing the world for the better … leaving the world in a better place than we found it.

We all have the capacity to do that with 2 little words – thank you.

It’s something we all learned as children: to say thank you. What many people might not realize is that these two simple words have a profound impact on our daily outlook, our ability to chart a course of success, and most importantly to be happy.

Plus, there are significant health benefits from embracing gratitude. Research shows that people who are more grateful have better heart health and more disease-fighting cells in their bodies.

We live in an environment where being overworked has become the norm (unfortunately), where demands for excellence only increase. Gratitude is the simplest, most powerful way to acknowledge another person’s value and humanity.

There are serious ramifications when employees and especially managers are not grateful. A boss who never shows gratitude can ruin morale, drag a team down, and lose hard-working employees.

Unlike many phrases in the English language, “thank you” never diminishes in meaning with repetition. When we use it to guide our conversations and structure our relationships, it can be amazing how often we start to hear “thank you” in return!

Besides a more grateful world is the kind of world I would like to live in … wouldn’t you?

We would love to hear from you! How do you show appreciation to those around you? Leave us a comment down below.
